Tasty Lane Honey Teriyaki Chicken recipe

Love is the most important ingredient in any recipe. Yet, sometimes we aren’t in the most loving mood to cook. When that happens, I use music to help me get there. Nothing moves me quite like music. I pulled together this Honey Teriyaki Chicken with my Relax playlist on Spotify.  Humming along to Harry Connick, Jr and Michael Buble did the trick. I didn’t even care that I didn’t have all of the ingredients I needed. I found the most important one. ♥

 Honey Teriyaki Chicken Recipe

IngredientsTasty Lane Honey Teriyaki Chicken recipe

  • 3-4 lbs skinless chicken breasts
  • ½ cup honey
  • ½ cup soy sauce
  • ¼ cup water
  • 2 tsp ground ginger
  • 2 tsp minced garlic
  • 1 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 2-3 green onions
  • 2 tbsp sunflower oil

 

Directions

In medium bowl mix together honey, soy sauce, water, ginger, garlic and red pepper flakes. Cut chicken breasts into 1 inch strips and add to mixture. Cover and marinate for 30 minutes.

Heat sunflower oil in frying pan over medium high heat. Carefully drop chicken strips into oil. Cooks in 5-7 minutes. Watch for edges to curl.  Place cooked chicken on paper towels to remove excess oil. Chop green onions. Drain oil from pan, add onions and cook for 5-7 minutes. Add remaining marinade to pan and scrape any cooked bits into the mixture. Bring to a low boil for 5-7 minutes.  Add chicken to mixture and stir to coat. Remove from heat and serve. Serves 4-6.

 

Variations

  1. Bake at 350℉ covered for 20-30 minutes, cook marinade the same, add to chicken and bake an additional 20-30 minutes uncovered
  2. Use Teriyaki sauce instead of soy sauce
  3. Toss with sesame seeds after cooking
