“You can’t serve cookies without milk. This is the worst thing you’ve ever done to me,” my son said to me when he was thirteen. That is one of two favorite things he ever said to me. The other was to ask if I was the model on the cover of Glamour when he was four, “Is that you, Mommy?” he asked, pointing at some buxom beauty.
No, I was most certainly not on the cover of any magazines and, yes, serving cookies without milk is an inexcusable crime. Here is my recipe for Sugar Cookies with extra sugar. Preferably planted on someone’s head when you deliver them hot out of the oven. With milk. Don’t forget the milk! ♥
Sugar, Sugar Cookies Recipe
Heat oven to 350℉. Beat butter and sugar until smooth. Add egg and beat until fluffy, about 2 minutes. Add vanilla and blend on low-speed for another minute. Scrape sides and mix all together. Add ½ cup sugar to sandwich bag. Scoop cookie mixture into 1 inch balls, using a cookie scooper is ideal. Drop cookie balls into sandwich bag. Shake to coat. (Get the kids to help with this.) Remove from bag and place 2-3 inches apart on parchment lined cookie sheet. Press gently with fork. Bake in oven 8-10 minutes. Best served warm with milk.
